In addition to being a great drummer, old friend, founding member, and a humble guy, Pete is an excellent artist. Pete creates all of the Johnny Cash artwork available at the merchandise table, and you can find a display of his available artwork below. Pete Maier hails from Neptune, New Jersey where he started playing drums at the age of ten years. While playing in bands on the Jersey Shore scene, he was exposed and influenced by a variety of different genres. In 1991, he was in an original band that played for the troops of Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia. In 2001, he studied with Michael Lauren at Drummer's Collective in NYC. In 2004, Pete moved to Atlanta and became a fixture in the Atlanta blues scene.
In 2005, Pete met and became friends with Gray Sartin, who plays Johnny. In 2011 he and Gray created Johnny Cash Now. Pete says, "it's a fun show to play because of the diversity of the music. We play songs from every stage of Johnny's career." In 2018, he and Gray created the Icons and Legends Now show, that included Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and George Jones.
